Peachford Hospital Programs

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Peachford Hospital is teaming with GA PTA to encourage better family connections through several programs again this year. Mark your calendars for the following dates:

September 17, 2008 “Attention Deficit: Disorders and Discoveries”
Learn about ADD traits, diagnosis and treatment options

This program titled, “Attention Deficit: Disorders and Discoveries” will provide parents, school counselors, teachers and medical personnel with information about ADD traits, dignosis, and treatment options. ADHD is most commonly diagnosed in children. However, since 1978, it has been increasingly diagnosed in adults. The most common symptoms of ADHD are distractibility, difficulty with concentration and focus, short term memory loss, procrastination, problems organizing ideas and belongings, tardiness, impulsivity, and weak planning and execution. However, not all people with ADHD exhibit all symptoms. It is common for persons with ADHD to display symptoms only when they are doing tasks that require excessive, prolonged, or elevated levels of attention or are placed in environments that are too distracting, so that once stimulus is removed they function normally. But, in many cases this is not possible, and intervention is needed to cope with these stimuli.
