system. Each year a teacher is chosen for their respected work

an honor to recognize each talented teacher and the principals
involved within each of our schools.

the new incoming officers whether they are new or returning.

changes for the upcoming year.
Reflections

cultural arts talents of students, in areas of literature, musical
composition, visual arts, photography, video/film production
and dance choreography. The 2007-2008 Reflections Program theme
is "I can make a difference by..." The theme is selected
from student suggestions. The entries are judged at Local, Council,
State, and National levels. The Council level finalists are
recognized at a special reception held in January.

a training session for new and returning incoming officers.

Council
Projects
Consequences
of Crimes - This is an educational field
trip to the Cobb County Work Release Center, which was developed
by Past ECCC PTA President, Margie Hatfield. Students from the
5th, 7th, 8th, and high school visit the jail on an assigned
date to discuss the Consequences of Crime. They spend two-hours
focusing on shoplifting, smoking, alcohol/drugs, or drinking
and driving. For more information on this project, contact CofC@ecccpta.org.
Honoring
Our Heroes - This is an essay project complimenting
the school district's character education initiative. Students
write about real life heroes who made a difference in their
lives. Created in 1996 by Past Council President Lillian Lurye,
it grew to one of our most inspirational and rewarding endeavors.
ECCC PTA recognizes winning essayists and their heroes at a
reception held in March each year.
Margie
Hatfield Scholarship - A committee from
ECCC PTA picks one senior from each ECCC PTA high school (six
scholarships total) based on community service, leadership and
grades. The inspiration for the Margie Hatfield scholarship
began in 1990 with the work performed by Ms. Hatfield in reference
to the welfare and education of young people.
Sister
School Project -
Our PTA council supports all its area schools. This is an opportunity
for areas that have advantages in regards to finances and time
to assist other area schools that struggle with either or both.
We make an effort to provide extra assistance with school and
family needs where possible. We encourage all schools to assist
our sister schools showing we do truly support every
child, one voice!
Teen
Job/Volunteer Fair
- This event is open to "work eligible" high school
students. This is an opportunity to find out what jobs are available
for the summer plus volunteer opportunities in the community.
Definitely let the students know about this event so they can
make plans to attend!
